The ARES community lost a legend this morning.
John William (Bill) Farnham KI4FZT/SK
For many years Bill has been involved in both the Local and state level of ARES as an Emergency Coordinator for Roane County and Assistant Section Emergency Coordinator – Public Safety Liaison for East Tennessee. Previously he has been a Section Assistant EC as well as a District EC. He has been the primary voice of the Roane County ARES Net. As he is fond of saying the Roane County ARES Net is not his Net but the whole of Roane County. He has been fundamental in establishing relationships with the EC’s in other counties.
ARES in Roane County will continue as there is always a backup plan. As Cliff says, if you don’t have a backup you don’t have a plan. Bill leaves a huge hole in both the ARES community as well as the Roane County Amateur Radio Club.
