It is with great sadness that I announce the active good standing of Mick Emery KE0GBR (Great Big Radio-w a Great Big Heart) to Silent Key. Mick passed on February 2, 2024, from the Cancer he had been fighting for so long.
Mick was a good friend and an asset to HAM Radio. He served as Vice President of the Monroe Amateur Radio Club for the 2023 year and was instrumental in bringing monthly training to the group. Mick was also a Member of the Monroe County Amateur Radio Emergency Service Group and Core Group of the Lunch Bunch Net.
His dedication to helping others make me proud to have known him. He initiated the first annual Park Polooza, combined MARC and MCARES Event.
Silent Key Ceremonies was conducted on the Wednesday Evening at the Monroe County Amateur Radio Emergency Service Net at 2000 on the 145.270 pl 127.3.
At this time services are not known. Mick’s Mother has told me that the majority of his family is out West. Scheduling for services will be made known to us as the information becomes available.
