Good evening everybody,
First off, thanks to all of you that assisted with the CASA 5k today. A lot of information was passed over the air and all-in-all, the event went well. The CASA crew and the race day event volunteers were all pleased with the outcome and the service that we provided.
Now, on to the next item… you might be wondering why this post about the CASA Run has an anecdotal title about pictures. Have you ever wondered why the National Weather Service asks for pictures of hail, flooding, storm damage, etc? You might be saying that it’s so they can see a solid verification of what is being reported, and you’re on the right track. Do you know what sort of data is collected when you snap a photo? That is a slightly loaded question, but here is the short of it… Along with the photo itself, there is a timestamp and often a geotag (along with a whole host of other detailed information). You can also add comments into the info section of your photos and those comments will follow that photo anywhere that it is sent.
By now you are probably figuring out the reason behind the anecdotal title. Below are a few screenshots to give a small example of the power of modern technology. One is before the race, one during and one is the final participants to pass by Checkpoint Echo. Notice the time, date and location. Pretty neat!

Oh, and here is a link to a short video compilation of some of the pictures from the event. Enjoy!
